The Alef Kabbalah group (4 March 2008) explored the Chassidic-kabbalistic discourse taught in 1983 by the Lubavitcher Rebbe for 'Parshat Shekalim'. This is an extra passage read this Shabbat (Sedra Pikudei, 2008) in a third Torah Scroll. The passage concerns the giving of a half a shekel, described earlier in the Book of Exodus, in Sedra Ki Tisa. The Sages say that G-d revealed to Moses 'a coin of fire'. What was difficult to understand about the coin of a half shekel? Why did a coin of fire have to be revealed?
