The Alef Kabbala Group (4 November 08) discussed a discourse taught by the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1985 concerning Lech Lecha, the journey of Abraham. The Zohar describes this as a journey 'from above to below', and also 'from below to above'. This concept is explored in spiritual terms, as relating to each indivdiual. The discourse also discusses the theme of '7 Cheshvan', which marked the time when those who had come to Jerusalem for the festivals had finally completed their return journey and had reached their homes. This marks the border between the realm of the sacred time of the festival, and the ordinary weeks and months of the year, which follow.
