The Alef Kabbala group (11 Sept. 07) discussed a discourse delivered on Rosh Hashana in 1980 by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, based on a passage in the Rosh Hashana prayers: "This day is the beginning of Your work".A person draws the radiance of the soul into the body, through study and observance of the Torah, and at the same time he or she is drawing spiritual radiance into the totality of existence.
