Descent In Order To Rise

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Toledot, 5727 (1967). A key theme in Chassidic teaching is 'descent in order to rise', and the Sedra illustrates this through Yitzhak planting seed that yielded a hundredfold. Just as the seed is buried in the earth and decomposes before emerging as abundant produce, so spiritual descent into the physical world is not a loss but a necessary step toward far greater elevation and fruitfulness.
