Divided In Order To Be One

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Sedra Korach, 5727 (1967). The Targum translates the opening of the Sedra as 'Korach divided', representing the concept of division and conflict. The discourse contrasts Korach's self-serving machloket with the disagreements of Hillel and Shammai, which were for the sake of Heaven, revealing that true unity can paradoxically emerge through legitimate spiritual disagreement when both sides are oriented toward a higher Divine truth.
