Really Receiving The Torah

Tetzaveh | Exodus | 5732

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Tetzaveh, 5732 (1972), during Purim. The Talmud teaches that the Jewish people ratified their acceptance of the Torah during the time of Ahasuerus and the Purim story, after having initially received it at Sinai under overwhelming miraculous pressure. The discourse explains that by freely dedicating themselves to the Mitzvot even at risk of their lives in ancient Persia, they transformed their original coerced acceptance into a fully voluntary and eternal one.
