Eleh Masey Bnei Yisrael

Taught by the Rebbe in 1975, this discourse opens with the verse "Eleh Masey Bnei Yisrael" ("These are the journeys of the Children of Israel"). The Torah (Numbers ch. 33) lists forty-two stages of the journey from Egypt to the Holy Land. The Baal Shem Tov teaches that there are likewise forty-two stages in the life of every individual; the Rebbe adds that there are forty-two stages in the history of the Jewish people, and that each individual passes through forty-two stages in their journey every single day.
