Being With G-D

Mattot-Masei | Numbers | 5720

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Mattot-Masei, 5720 (1960). It asks whether true Devekut, cleaving to G-d, is possible while one is deeply involved in worldly matters. Drawing on the story of the Tribes of Reuven and Gad who requested land on the east side of the Jordan, the discourse shows that engagement with the material world, done in the right spirit, is fully compatible with genuine closeness to G-d.
