The Question

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on 11 Nisan, 5733 (1973), the Rebbe's birthday. The Torah presents the Wise Son's question at the Seder 'What are the testimonies, statutes and laws which Hashem our G-d has commanded you?' and the discourse asks what this wise person is actually asking, given that they clearly already know the categories of Mitzvot. The answer reveals a profound question about the nature of the spiritual connection achieved through practical commandments.
