This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Parshat Vayetze, 5719 (1959). The verse 'He redeemed in peace my soul, for many are now with me' is associated with the liberation of Rabbi Shneur Zalman on 19 Kislev, 1798, and with his son's liberation on 10 Kislev 1826. The discourse explains that redeeming in peace means the enemy has become a friend, and explores how Jacob's dream of the ladder in our Sedra expresses the same idea of transforming opposition into unity.
