Succah Under Tree

5728

This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on the second night of Succot, 5728 (1967). The Mishnah states that a Succah built under a tree is as if built inside a house and thus not kosher. The discourse explores the special affinity between a Succah and a tree, tracing it to Abraham's invitation to the angels to rest under a tree, which the Maggid of Mezeritch interprets as the Tree of Life, the inner dimension of Torah.
