This discourse was delivered by the Rebbe on Shabbat Sedra Emor, Lag B'Omer, 5730 (1970). Lag B'Omer is the Yahrzeit of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (Rashbi), yet it is celebrated joyfully and called 'Hilula', the Aramaic word for wedding. The discourse explores why Rashbi's passing is a day of joy rather than mourning, revealing how the tzaddik's departure from this world is a union of the highest levels of the soul with its Divine source.
